Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about raising funds for a funeral.
How does Funeral Fundraiser work?
Create a fundraiser page for your loved one, share the link with friends and family, and donations are processed securely and transferred to your connected bank account. There are no upfront costs and no monthly fees.
How quickly do I receive the money?
Funds are typically delivered within 2 business days of each donation to your connected bank account. You do not have to wait until you reach your goal.
Do I need a bank account to receive donations?
Yes. When setting up your fundraiser, you'll connect your bank account securely. The process takes about 2 minutes and requires your banking details and identity verification. Identity verification is required by our payment processor before any funds can be released — this protects both donors and fundraiser organizers.
Is there a minimum or maximum fundraising goal?
No minimum, no maximum. Set whatever reflects your actual costs. We suggest starting with the average funeral cost of $8,500 as a benchmark.
How much does it cost to use Funeral Fundraiser?
Funeral Fundraiser charges a 3.5% platform fee. Standard payment processing fees apply. There is no upfront cost, no monthly fee, and no charge for creating or closing a fundraiser. Our fee funds faster payouts — most families receive their donations within 2 business days, so funds are available when you need them most.
Can I keep donations if I don't reach my goal?
Yes. All donations are transferred to your account as they come in, regardless of whether you reach your goal. You never have to wait until the end.
Can donations be refunded?
Because funds are transferred to the fundraiser organizer as donations are received, we are unable to guarantee refunds. If you believe a fundraiser is fraudulent or you have a specific concern, please contact us immediately at support@funeralfundraiser.com and we will work with our payment processor to investigate.
What if I raise more than my goal?
Any funds raised beyond your goal can be used toward funeral and memorial-related expenses or end-of-life costs during this difficult time.
Is my fundraiser page public?
Yes. Anyone with the link can view your fundraiser and donate. Fundraiser pages are not listed in search engine results by default — only people you share the link with will find it.
Can donors give anonymously?
Yes. Donors can choose to donate anonymously at checkout. Their name will not be displayed on your fundraiser page, but their donation still counts toward your total.
How do I share my fundraiser?
Use the share buttons on your fundraiser page to share via WhatsApp, Facebook, or email — or copy the link directly to send to friends and family.
What happens to my fundraiser page after I no longer need it?
You can close your fundraiser at any time from your dashboard. The page will no longer accept donations after it is closed.
How do you prevent fraudulent fundraisers?
Although independent fundraisers are allowed and encouraged on our platform, we also work directly with verified funeral home partners who are supporting families at the time of need — providing an additional layer of confirmation that a fundraiser is linked to a real end-of-life situation. All fundraiser organizers are required to complete identity verification (KYC) through our payment processor, Stripe, before any funds can be released. This means every person receiving donations has verified their legal identity and bank account. Our team also reviews fundraisers flagged for suspicious activity, and we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent campaigns. To report a concern, contact us at support@funeralfundraiser.com.
Is Funeral Fundraiser a registered charity?
No. Funeral Fundraiser is a fundraising platform, not a registered charity. Donations made through our platform are not tax-deductible.
